OUR BIO
Luciana Arcuri and Ligia Liberatori have known each other since 2016. It was love at first sight — an artistic and human connection that has remained alive ever since. Since then, they have been developing a wide range of projects together in the fields of physical theatre, dance, music and clown, as well as interactive creations within the performing arts.
As a clown duo, they have created numerous acts that combine humour and depth, blending multiple techniques and weaving together themes ranging from the absurd to social criticism. The relationship between the characters is always at the centre of the scene, serving as the main dramaturgical driving force of their work.
The artists perform on cabaret and festival stages, create improvised clown interventions in public spaces, and are the founders of a clown festival in Berlin. In addition, Luciana and Ligia work together as medical clowns with Association Rote Nasen e.V., bringing their artistic practice into sensitive social contexts.
Luciana Arcuri
Clown, creator, actress: a Brazilian residing in Berlin since 2016, is a dedicated clown with Red Noses Germany - Red Noses International. She conducts workshops in clowning and physical theater globally. Co-founder of "Maria Eugênia & Margarita," she also founded the Clown Festival Berlin in 2023. Collaborating with groups like Gruppe 8, she holds a Bachelor's from Pontificia Università Catolica of Sao Paulo. Currently, she explores performance creation, clowning, and theatrical collaborations, participating in festivals worldwide, while honing her skills in dance and Aikido. Notably, she received an Honorable Mention at the Breves Cenas de Manaus Festival.
Ligia Liberatori
Argentinian singer, clowness, composer, scenic artist, performer and teacher living in Berlin. Specialist in extended vocal techniques and improvised music, she developed for several years techniques for singing in movement, for example in aerial acrobatics. She received awards and grants as a composer and improviser, sharing her work as a musician with that of performer and physical theatre actress. She was a medical clown in Cologne and is currently a member of Rote Nasen Deutschland. Together with Luciana Arcuri she created the duo Maria Eugênia and Margarita. She accompanied Luciana in the creation of the Clown Festival Berlin.
